Overview
The Glossop Guild was formed in 2009 to promote liberal education in and around the town.
Glossop is a former mill town at the northern end of the Peak District National Park in the United Kingdom. The Guild is a non-profit organisation which endeavours to promote a wide range of courses, all of which we provide for the interests and enlightenment of participants. The Guild aims to select tutors on the basis of their ability to present lively and challenging courses, as well as for their expertise and experience. Members and participants are encouraged to contribute their own views and engage in informative discussion. All courses are open to both members and non-members.
Spring Programme January to April 2025 - Bookings now open!
As another successful autumn programme draws to a close Maggie our course organiser has arranged an equally exciting programme for the spring term. Birgitta Hoffman will tell us about the Romans' reinvention of the Gods. Simon Bulmer will give us his interpretation of the consequences of Brexit. The film day next term will be La Bête Humaine based on the book by Emile Zola. Mike Milligan will delve into Artificial Intelligence and Bob Callow will present the history of vaccinations. We have three new tutors this year, John Richardson on Trauma in the Police Force, Kate Raine from the Heritage Trust on "Women of Glossop" and Tony Keen who will tell us about mythology on the streets of London. This is to name but a few of the 18 courses this term.
Once again we are offering both a venue based programme in Glossop for those who wish to attend in person and a Zoom based programme for people who prefer to attend in the comfort of their own homes. Just select the orange buttons for more details.

As a small non profit organisation Glossop Guild are exempt from registration with the ICO for data protection act purposes. Nevertheless any personal details you give us directly, or via our course booking process, will only be used for Glossop Guild purposes, and maintained in accord with General Data Protection regulation principles.

To book a course on the courses page just select "Buy Lectures", this takes you to the "secure payments" page, then select "check out" (not "checkout with PayPal); then on the next page select "pay by debit or credit card" which is the option towards the bottom of the page. Fill in your details and follow the prompts. When the transaction is completed you will be given a transaction number which serves as your receipt - no further receipt for the course is required.
