Glossop Guild for enquiring minds

Glossop Lion 1847
Overview
The Glossop Guild was formed in 2009 to promote liberal education in and around the town.
Glossop is a former mill town at the northern end of the Peak District National Park in the United Kingdom. The Guild is a non-profit organisation which endeavours to promote a wide range of courses, all of which we provide for the interests and enlightenment of participants. The Guild aims to select tutors on the basis of their ability to present lively and challenging courses, as well as for their expertise and experience. Members and participants are encouraged to contribute their own views and engage in informative discussion. All courses are open to both members and non-members.

Post Covid Courses
Due to the popularity of our online courses during the recent pandemic and at the request of members, we will continue to offer both venue and online (Zoom) based courses in the forthcoming term.
Another successful autumn term is over and so we turn our attention to the spring 2023 term. Maggie Mooney and the rest of the Guild committee have been hard at work compiling yet another diverse programme. This term we have a new face on our lecturing team - David Toft who will talk about a country walk that took place in 1932 and is still very much remembered in Glossop to this day - The Kinder Scout mass trespass. We will also be welcoming back to the lecturing team one of our founding members Bob Callow who will be telling us a tale of Skulduggery on the Isle of Rhum! Bob will also be treating us to the story of the humble sugar beet via our Zoom sessions. There are of course lots more lectures and courses this term which are explained in full on our courses pages.
Due to popular demand we have maintained a mix of online (Zoom) courses and venue courses based in Glossop. Courses commence on 16th January 2023 and run until the end of March.
You can make an early booking NOW by selecting the appropriate course page on the orange buttons.
